They loved it and asked if we could install it on their computer. Remembering that Windows XP came with a Pinball game, I showed it to them on one of my older test systems. Later that evening the girls asked me if we could find a pinball game for their Windows 7 computer. My daughters got a big kick out of the game, and the three of us played for close to an hour. The machine had been refurbished and worked great with loud music, flashing lights, and all sorts of cool sound effects. On a recent weekend, my daughters and I were perusing the various booths at a local flea market and came upon an old pinball machine. I had noticed an interesting tattoo of a Hurricane on a friend's forearm. I'm working on a little video project, putting together a quick Blitz video of a Hurricane being scrambled from Hawkinge to intercept a raiding 110 approaching Folkstone at wavetop height. Obviously, this doesn't work for making movies of Blitz where you want the sound to switch over to whatever the camera is showing. a singer or musician - you can switch around angles/cameras on the artist, but you just want the "good" sound to be constant). ![]() Progetti are recognised as being one of the most prominent design leaders in the "Made in Italy" series - an yearly run award for all Italian innovations and services in a wide range of Italian products, brands, arts and creative industries. For the past 30 years, they have brought together some of Italy's most brilliant product designers, thinkers and researchers to help create a unique range of contemporary house and living accessories for homes, offices and spaces worldwide.īased out of Carate Brianza, just north of Milan, Progetti aims to be a source of new and interesting responses to evolving design trends and ideas and loves to challenge, to rethink with originality, and to add life and fun to simple and everyday objects, without losing their main function. It was only when the company hired many production engineers who had graduated from Japanese engineering faculties and when it began to work with outside research institutions, such as the Department of Precision Engineering of the University of Tokyo, that Hattori was able to implement fully a hybrid production system in the 1950s.Progetti is one of Italy's leading design companies. Yet this hybrid production system ran into problems because parts were not interchangeable, as a result of which assembly continued along traditional lines until the end of the Second World War. Starting in the 1910s and 1920s, Hattori selected a few high-precision Swiss watches and set itself the goal of producing them in mass using imported machine tools. It shows that the competitiveness of this industry, which established itself on the world market during the 1960s, was due to a process of technological hybridization between the American mass production system and the Swiss specialized production system. in the first half of the twentieth century as an example. ![]() This paper analyzes the emergence of Japanese specialized industry, taking the production of Seiko watches at Hattori & Co. Conclusively, this thesis critically highlights the need to reconsider the roles of each actor involved in the design industry according to the trade of such immaterial commodities. The thesis concludes with the observation that some designers are also starting to monetize from their presence in exhibitions, by demanding loan and participation fees. The research witnesses the way actors conventionally belonging to the media industry are now able to commission new content to feature in their publications and events and monetize from this. As visibility and reputation are the fuel that feeds the contemporary design industry, then the power of the media has proven crucial, allowing a fluidity of roles in the design industry. In fact, reputation and visibility emerge as central commodities for trade. To express this with the terminology used in this thesis a well constructed media profile infers reputation besides visibility. It indicates the extent of the audience and the level of status it is quantity and quality at the same time. The designers' media profile entails popularity and prestige. Furthermore, this study provides new understanding on the media profile within the design industry. In doing so, this thesis answers the main question: What commodities (intended as the ensemble of goods, values, competencies and services) are traded in the contemporary design industry and by whom? As a result, this research expands the notion of the design process beyond the artefact, highlighting the role that its representation in the media and events has in the process. The aim of this PhD is to provide an understanding of such impact. The increasingly growing manifestation of this type of design in the media – and the media in design – has an impact on the way certain designers conceive and practice their profession, and on the design industry as a whole. This research explores the intersection between the design industry and the ubiquitous media and events industry, focusing on the context of design characterized by limited editions and one-off artefacts. ![]() We finally know the price of LG’s 240Hz OLED gaming monitors Fans are also bugging People Can Fly about the lack of cross-progression, asking for it to be added with a future update, but there’s currently no plan to upgrade the feature. It’s a bit of a bummer that true cross-progression isn’t supported, but at least you won’t lose your progress if you upgrade your current console. However, if you stay in the same family of consoles - that is, Xbox One to Series X or PS4 to PS5 - you’ll be able to use your old save file without issue. If you’re currently playing on Xbox One and decide you’d like to pick up a PS5, you won’t be able to transfer your progress. While Outriders is incredibly cross-play friendly, the same can’t be said for cross-progression. Still, it’s a huge leap forward for cooperative shooters - and we hope to see it more in the future. That means you won’t be able to broadcast your PS5 game to Xbox Series X players, or vice versa. Unfortunately, this feature is limited to Stadia users. This is a great feature that pushes communication and cooperation to the next level - instead of guessing where your teammate is asking you to go, you can simply look at their screen to get a better indication. It appears as a small window at the corner of your HUD, giving you a glimpse into what your team is seeing. Stadia Stream Connect is an impressive new feature that lets Stadia players broadcast their screen to others in their party. You’ll now only be playing with others on your system of choice. From there, scroll down until you see the Enable Cross-play option and switch it to Off. We highly recommend leaving this turned on - you’ll have a larger pool of players to group with, cutting down your wait time - but turning it off is simple.Īfter logging in, open the main menu. If you’d rather not play with users on other platforms, Outriders gives you the option to toggle off cross-play. You can be playing on PS5, one of your friends can be running it on their old Xbox, and another can be using their gaming PC, and you’ll all still be able to join the same lobby. Whether you’re playing on a last-gen or current-gen platform, you’ll be able to play Outriders with folks on all available systems. A red team can be an externally contracted group of penetration testers or a team within your own organization, designed to hack your system to prepare for a wide variety of cyberattacks and breach scenarios before they occur. Red teaming is the practice of testing the security of an organization’s systems by emulating a malicious actor and hacking into secure systems or data. It may seem counterintuitive to pay someone to tell you your shortcomings, but smart companies today are shelling out dollars and resources to do just that, in the form of red teaming. ![]() Add names to the address book using the form at the bottom of the screen Import and export address book (to be covered in a separate session) WebMail 2.0 Address Book Click on the “Addresses” link on the menu bar View Nickname, Name, E-mail, and Info for each entry.
